Director (Pipelines) inaugurates Pipelines Division Cricket Tournament

The 3^rd Pipelines Division Cricket Tournament was inaugurated in Jasola Sports Complex, Delhi today in great fun and fare environment.

Mr. Anish Aggarwal, Director (Pipelines) inaugurated the Cricket Tournament in the presence of Mr. J.P. Ojha, ED (NRPL), Dr. B.D. Yadav, ED (WRPL), Mr. A.S. Malik, ED (Construction), PRRPL, Mr. Jibanananda Pradhan, ED, (HR), Pipelines Division Head Office, Noida, Mr. H. P. Sahi, ED (ERPL), senior officials and cricket teams of various regions, project construction, Pipelines Division Head Office and the IOCians of PL HO, Noida. In his inaugural address, Mr. Aggarwal said, sports and games are the holistic manifestations of the potentials of human energy that can achieve boundless excellence.

Sports have been part of humanity from the earliest chapters of history and have the ability to draw people together irrespective of race, gender, religion and country. Unity of spirit and purpose is ultimately what builds bridges between diverse cultures. Especially, in a diverse country like ours, sports and games play an important role in bringing people of different hues and cultures together. He remarked, “The Pipelines Division Cricket Tournament is a step forward in promoting Sports and Games and to provide a platform to the sportspersons of IndianOil’s Pipelines Division to hone and demonstrate their outstanding sporting talents in the game of cricket. The tournament also aims to promote healthy work life balance, goodwill and sporting spirit among the participants amidst a lively environment. Sports meets like this foster a spirit of solidarity, camaraderie and team spirit among the participants.”

Mr. Aggarwal signed off by saying “All of you are great sportsperson of your own talent. This tournament gives you an opportunity to know and test yourselves. It is not how big you are; it is how big you play. I would urge you to play your best and believe in teamwork. Do believe in the fact that we are members of a team and the team, not any individual, is the ultimate champion.”

The 3^rd Pipelines Division Cricket Tournament is being played in Jasola Sports Complex and Chilla Sports Complex, Delhi concurrently from March 12 to 14, 2015. Six teams from Eastern Region Pipelines (ERPL), Western Region Pipelines (WRPL), Northern Region Pipelines (NRPL), Southern Region Pipelines (SRPL), Project Construction, and Pipelines Division Head Office, Noida are contending for the championship. In the Group-A matches, crickets teams from WRPL, NRPL and Project Construction will play with each other. In the Group-B matches, matches will be conducted among the cricket teams from Pipelines Division Head Office, ERPL and SRPL. The first semifinal match will be played between the winner team from Group-A and the 2^nd position holding team from Group-B. The second semifinal will be played between the winner team Group-B and the 2^nd position holding team of Group-A. The final match will be played in Jasola Sports Complex at 9:00 am on March 14, 2015
