NRPL emerges champion in Pipelines Division Cricket Tournament

Northern Region Pipelines (NRPL) emerged champions of the Pipelines Division Cricket Tournament concluded recently at Jasola Sports Complex, New Delhi. Mr. Verghese Cherian, Director (HR) presented the trophy to the winning team. Mr. Anish Aggarwal, Director (Pipelines), senior officials and all participating teams were present on the occasion.

Complimenting the champions and participants of cricket tournament, Mr. Cherian said, “There are people who are not winners or who are not in the finals. But they are individual stars who won prizes in the teams which have not won the championship trophy. What is heartening is that, even when you lose, there are others who stand by you and cheer you. That is what working life is all about.”

Mr. Cherian expressed his happiness over the participation of Pipelines Division employees across the country in the three day tournament. “All of you are busy in your daily chores of running this large corporation. I don’t call it a business. I call it a national service, because we do things beyond business. And in the midst of this, we have these three days to come together”, he remarked.

Mr. Cherian and Mr. Aggarwal presented trophies to the winners. Mr. Vivek Kumar (PLHO) was adjudged ‘Man of the Tournament’. Mr. Ashok Kumar (NRPL) was awarded with ‘Best Captain’, Jagwati Prasad (WRPL) with ‘Best Wicketkeeper’ and Mr. Vineet Kumar (NRPL) with ‘Best Bowler’.  Mr. Atul J Parmar (WRPL) bagged ‘Best Batsman and Maximum fours’ awards. Mr. Gagandeep Singh Ahuja (WRPL) for Maximum wickets, Mr. Vivek Kumar (PLHO) for Maximum sixes and Mr. Rakesh Kumar (ERPL)  was awarded for ‘Best catches’.  Mr. Cherian and Mr. Aggarwal felicitated the winners with a medal and trophy.

Trophies for ‘Man of the Match’ in individual matches were presented to Mr. Kavish (NRPL), Mr. Gagandeep Singh Ahuja (WRPL), Mr. Vineet Kumar (NRPL), Mr. Vivek Kumar (PLHO), Mr. Navneet Kumar (NRPL), Mr. Ashok Kumar (NRPL), Mr. Atul J Parmar (WRPL) and Mr. Kartikeyan K (SRPL).

Mr. Jibanananda Pradhan, ED (HR), Mr. V. K. Khurana, ED (PJ), Mr. J. P. Ojha, ED (NRPL), Dr. B. D. Yadav, ED (WRPL), Mr. H. P. Sahi, ED (ERPL), Mr. A. S. Malik, ED (Construction), Mr. A. K. Tewari, ED (WRPL)  were among the senior officials present to cheer the players in the finals.

The final match was played between teams from Western Region Pipelines (WRPL) and Northern Region Pipelines (NRPL) in which NRPL won the tournament defeating the past champion WRPL with eight wickets.
