Mr. B. Ashok, Chairman IndianOil, inaugurated the Gas Turbine-6 (GT-6) at Gujarat Refinery in presence of Mr. Sanjiv Singh, Director (Refineries), Mr. S. K. Dhar Gupta, ED, Gujarat Refinery, and members of senior management of Gujarat Refinery. GT-6 will increase the power capacity of refinery and ensure that required power is always available with the refinery, even during maintenance of any of the existing Gas Turbines.

During day-long visit to Gujarat Refinery, Chairman took a detailed review of Refinery operations. Interacting with the senior management team, Mr. Ashok said, “The nation is going through a challenging phase in terms of changes in oil and gas sector developments and is presenting new opportunities for us. With deregulation, competition is growing and so are the expectations of our consumers. From the refinery perspective, we must find ways for processing various types of crudes and improve yield and energy efficiencies”.

He emphasised that along with physical performance, safety of our people and infrastructure is of prime importance because collateral damage due to unsafe incidents is very high. Chairman congratulated Team Gujarat Refinery for achieving record best 80.2% wt of distillate yield and appreciated the Integrated Flare Management System (IFMS) for energy conservation which has been a pioneering effort at Gujarat Refinery.

Mr. Gupta shared an overview of the refinery performance, shutdown preparedness, Samriddhi project for profitability and SEED project for improving cultural behavioural safety currently underway at Gujarat Refinery.  He further said that resilient human resource remains core strength of Gujarat Refinery.

Together, we are committed to achieve the goal of safe shutdown, compliance of Auto fuel policy and expansion project. With ample support from pipelines and marketing division, the employees of corporation shall strive to achieve the vision of corporation.  As a part of Gujarat Refinery review, Mr. Ashok visited the various units of Residue Upgradation Units and interacted with shop-floor employees.

The Chairman addressed also employees during the Open House session. In his key-note address he appreciated the energy, passion and commitment of the employees. “IndianOil is now focussing on straddling the new entire hydrocarbon value chain through integration and diversification initiatives of the business. To succeed in our endeavours we must have a public sector approach but a private sector mindset and most importantly we must enjoy our job every day,” he said. Mr. B. Ashok was felicitated by members of collectives and pipeline and marketing team at the Open House.

Mr. Sanjiv Singh appreciated the Shutdown preparedness of Gujarat Refinery and stressed on timely completion to ensure retaining our market share.

Mr. Dhar Gupta accorded warm welcome to the Chairman and Director (Refineries) which was followed by planting of sapling by dignitaries  as a symbolic gesture of our commitment to sustainable development.
