Mr. Sandeep Poundrik, IAS, Joint Secretary (Refineries), MoP&NG visited Guwahati Refinery on  March 25, 2015. After a ceremonial Guard of Honour, Mr. Poundrik visited plant installations.  Mr. Jogen Barpujari, GM, welcomed him with a Sarai, Jaapi and Gamocha at the Conference Room.

A brief presentation on performance of the refinery, capabilities and challenges, major profitability improvement schemes, safety and occupational health, environment and other initiatives, CSR was showcased during the conference held with Mr. Poundrik. Request for grant of subsidies for Guwahati Refinery WAX project was also discussed with the Joint Secretary.

Addressing the conference, Mr. Poundrik said that availability of Assam crude would be reducing in the coming days so Guwahati Refinery should gear up for imported crude. He explained that the industry would be steadily moving towards deregulation and private competition, therefore the refineries must improve efficiency. Power costs are a major constraint and adopting grid power would reduce costs, he added. Concluding his remarks, Mr. Poundrik conveyed his best wishes for all.
