Director (P&BD) addresses 2nd conclave on Explosives held at Kolkata

Business Group (Explosives), IBPD organised the 2nd conclave on Explosives at Kolkata on July 3, 2015. Eminent professionals and academicians from the mining industry addressed the conclave.

Dr. T. K. Lahiry, C&MD, BCCL- Dhanbad, inaugurated the conclave in the presence of Mr. Debasis Sen, Director (Planning & Business Development & In-charge IBP Division) and other senior officials including Mr. P. Dey, ED (Explosives), IBP, Mr. R. K. Arora, ED (Cryogenics), Mr. Gautam Bose, ED (RS), ER and Mr. Manish Sinha, GM (Explosives).

Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Debasis Sen spoke on the energy scenario of the nation and stated that coal will be the mainstay of energy basket in future.

He touched on the demand drivers for explosives industry and delineated the importance of creating institutional capacities, enforcing the regulatory framework, absorption of clean technology to meet the challenges ahead. He urged the industry to harness its core competencies in a manner that would transform it into a globally competitive manufacturing hub powered by innovation and international collaborations.

The other speakers in the conclave included Dr. T.K Lahiry C&MD, BCCL, Mr. R.K. Maindola, Jt. Chief Controller of Explosives, Dr. Amalendu Sinha, Director, Central Institute of Mines & Fuel Research, Mr. P.K Tiwari, Director(Technical) CCL, Dr. Sushil Bhandari, Prof. A. K. Ghosh and other eminent personalities and business leaders.

During the Conclave the Safety Manual was also unveiled by Mr. Debasis Sen. Dr. Amalendu Sinha, Director, Central Institute of Mines &Fuel Research, released a special issue of the journal ‘Mines Metals and Fuels’.

The objective of the conclave was to share the experiences, deliberate and learning among all stakeholders in the mining industry.
