Indian Oil 'A' dethrones ONGC'A'

Following a three-way tie, IndianOil ‘A’ claimed the team honours in the Petroleum inter-unit chess tournament on a superior tiebreak score over defending champion Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ‘A’ and Bharat Petroleum at the Vishwa Yuvak Kendra here on Wednesday. All three teams finished with 10 match points after scoring five victories in six rounds. The tie was broken on the basis of the aggregate points scored by each team. Earlier, in a much-awaited match, ONGC ‘A’ defeated IndianOil ‘A’ 2.5-1.5 in the fifth round. Though ONGC’s K. Sasikiran lost to Surya Shekhar Ganguly on the top board and Neelotpal Das held Abhijeet Kunte on the second, ONGC’s K. Humpy and P. Konguvel won the lower boards against Deepan Chakkravarthy and B.
