<b>Oil giants should not forget social responsibilities</b> The new Governor of Bihar Debananda Konwar inaugurated the golden jubilee celebrations of the Indian Oil at Barauni Oil Refinery here on Tuesday He also addressed a colourful function organized on the premises of the plant as the chief guest. The Executive Director of the BOR, Mr. S. K. Garg and the District Magistrate, Mr. Jitendra Srivastava welcomed the gathering. The Governor in his address recalled his memories of the sixties when the Guwahati Refinery was set up and the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had inaugurated it as the very first refinery of the country. Mr. Konwar said in the early phase of his life, he was associated with the Indian oil company for eight years. He further said the refineries besides performance and profit should not forget its social responsibilities. As the rural masses across India are highly dependent on kerosene, the oil giants must develop ways to provide it to all the BPL families at a minimum price through their own network. The petroleum crude is not only to produce the petrol diesel and LPG, technocrats and petro-research scientists must invent new products from the crude oil. Researches in western countries have discovered about 900 products from the petroleum crude oil, including medicines, the Governor said. He, however, expressed pleasure over the performances of the Barauni Oil refinery. It was the very first public meeting of the Governor after taking oath on Monday as Bihar Governor. Wife of the Governor was also present. The Executive Director, Mr. S. K. Garg, in his address spoke on the performances of the IndianOil and the Barauni Oil Refinery. <b>Special scheme for customers</b> IndianOil celebrated its 50th year of service to the nation on Tuesday. The golden jubilee celebration of IndianOil was held at the Gasoline centre near Boring Road in the State Capital. DGM (Retail Sales), IndianOil Mr. Sandip Kumar Makkad and SDRSM Mr. Alok Kumar jointly inaugurated the function. Speaking on the occasion, Kumar announced to launch a special golden jubilee scheme for customers. He assured the IndianOil customers of improvement in service and more amenities at its retail outlets in future as well. A lively question and answer session was also organised on the occasion and the customers coming out with right answers received gifts. HTC, Patna.
