Golden jubilee celebrations of IndianOil begin at Bongaigaon Refinery

Along with the rest of the IndianOil fraternity, Bongaigaon Refinery (BGR) kicked off the golden jubilee celebrations of IndianOil on Tuesday with enthusiasm. Eminent educationist and vice chancellor of Tezpur University Prof Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri graced the inaugural function as the chief guest. The function began with the playing of the theme songs of both Bongaigaon Refinery and IndianOil. The programme held on the premises of the administrative block witnessed the participation of the employees and other invited dignitaries. Mr. A. Saran, Executive Director of Bongaigaon Refinery, and other senior functionaries of the refinery participated in the programme. Before the programme commenced, Mr. Saran felicitated the chief guest with a bouquet and a gamocha. The chief guest, Prof M. K. Chaudhuri inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial lamp along with the executive director and other senior functionaries. Earlier, Mr. B.K. Das, GM (HR), welcomed the gathering to the inaugural programme. The IndianOil pledge was administered in English, Hindi and Assamese by Mr. A. Saran, ED, Mr. H. C. Vishwakarma, GM (CA&T) and M. K. Sinha, GM (Projects) respectively. The goodwill messages received from the President of India, Vice President of India, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Chairman, IndianOil and Director (Refineries) were read out. Mr. A. Saran, Executive Director, addressed the gathering and outlined Indian Oil's saga of success. He mentioned that IndianOil is the outcome of the vision of the visionary leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India and that since inception the company has grown by 3,000 times. Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Mr. M. K. Chaudhuri congratulated all members of IndianOil for the outstanding achievement of the company. He also congratulated those unsung heroes of the company who contributed to the growth of. IndianOil, Mr. Chaudhuri wished that growth should take place with a commitment to the society and the environment. He emphasised on earning carbon credit for clean and green environment and also advocated synergy between the industries and the academicians. Mr. Chaudhuri also congratulated the employees of Bongaigaon Refinery for achieving many prestigious awards in safety and environment, which indicates its commitment to the environment and the community. Representatives from the collectives namely Mr. P.K. Sarroa, general secretary, Employees Union and Mr. H. K. Das, president, Officers Association, also addressed the gathering. The golden jubilee celebrations of IndianOil by BGR will continue till September 1 with various programmes like IndianOil Idol competition, mini-marathon, release of music album, the press note added.
