'Rabindra Jayanthi' observed at Digboi
New Delhi   20-Jul-2009
<b>Digboi:</b> The India Club of Digboi organised the birth anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore, the greatest among the post-Renaissance poets of India stretching up to the contemporary times, belatedly with a two-day programme on July 11th and July 12th, 2009. Mr. Subrata Ghosh, Executive Director of IndianOil (AOD), inaugurated the celebrations. The first evening’s programme included paying of homage to the master poet, felicitation to the chief guest of the occasion, Ms. Shreya Guhathakurata, a noted singer from Kolkata and distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions. The second evening came alive with the sweet and variegated numbers of Guhathakurata, the chief guest, preceded by a few select items of the local artistes. Bibhas Mitra's photography exhibition held as part of the celebrations generated interest. Not a single of his 87 entries bore marks of dearth of imaginative vigour and intellectual ordering. Some of his photographs appeared to have merged into the unageing world of painting and some even evoked the harmonies of ragas from the deepest recesses of our being. <i>'The Sunset at Dibru-Saikhowa', was one such piece.
