All work and no play make Jack a dull boy the students of the Delhi Public School (DPS), Digboi, take said saying to heart. Not only they have taken part in extra-curricular activities wholeheartedly but also they have excelled in many fields. For instance, the schools troops emerged winners in the march past in the Independence Day celebration held at Digboi parade ground. The school’s representative Master Anibarn Chakraborty and Sakya Samik Kar Khound of class IX took the overall titles in the “All Assam Prize Money Quiz Competition for school students”, organized by IndianOil (AOD) as a part of their golden jubilee celebration. They bagged the prize money of rupees ten thousand. Another student of class VIII of the school, Ms. Nandini Sarma, bagged the best female singer in the Indian Oil Idol National Level Competition in New Delhi. She impressed everyone so much that the noted playback singer Suresh Wadekar who was one of the judges offered to train her in future. The CBSC Regional Science Exhibition held at South Point School, Guwahati in August, also brought the DPS, Digboi school students into the limelight. The team of class VIII students Abhilash Patowary and Ipsita Saikia received very favourable reviews when they dealt eloquently with the topic– “Men animal conflict with reference to elephants in and around Digboi”. The project– “on site grey water treatment using non conventional methodology”, presented by Deep Sarkar and Ashrupriya Gogoi, both of class XII, was equally impressive. As usual, apart form these non-academic excellence, the students of DPS, in their pursuit for excellence, have been achieving enviable academic success stories.
