Questions as these were enough for school kids of the Capital to ask for more at the Times NIE fundamental quiz 2009-10 held at Sir Port Auditorium on Monday As Anshul, Prateek and Roshan of New Era Public School, Mayapuri incidentally the winners of the Rodin's trophy put it, "It's the best moment of our lives. It's great to compete with such fantastic teams." For the record, the quiz competition was held in association with IndianOil, in line with its spirit for excellence and as part of their golden jubilee celebrations. But what really made the do one of its kind was the excitement of one and all gathered at the venue. After all, students had put in lots simply to be a part of the competition. Says Rani Ahuja, teacher, Doon Public School, Paschim Vihar, "I encouraged my children to read newspapers and constantly work on their general awareness. We also have a quiz club in school that helped our students hone their quizzing skills." Cut to the competition. The rounds were a mixed bag of questions on history, geography, environment, sports, and music and so on. Also, were special rounds on Commonwealth Games and the environment, courtesy quizzing master Derek O’Brien? Not to miss out, were the whopping 2,000 students who thronged the auditorium, including 150 teams. Of course, the lucky ones to get onto the stage were BAL Bharati, Noi-da, DPSRohini, DPS Vasant Kunj.DonBosco School, and Alaknanda. New Era Public School and St Columba's School, Gole Market Incidentally St Columba's, Gole Market and Bal Bharati Public School, Noida stood second and third respectively On the other hand, Mt Abu Public School, Rohini won prizes for both test banner" and *best cheering team Individual gold, silver and bronze trophies, along with certificates were awarded to the three best teams. The best team also won 3 BSA cycles each. The second and third. best teams won 3 volleyballs and basketballs each respectively. Those present were Mr. S. S.
