IndianOil led by Wasim Jaffer retained the hold on KG Mahindra Memorial Trophy, fourth time in a row; when they defeated DY Patil Group by eight wickets in the 50-overs final at the MIG ground, Bandra here on Friday. Winner collected Rs. 25.000/- and a trophy, while runners-up received Rs.10,000 with Trophy. DY Patil after being put in to hat, were all sorts of trouble against the medium pacers Rohan Raje and Anand Rajan. At one stage they were struggling at 5 for 19. The man for the rescue Sarvesh Damle and Ashok Kadam added invaluable 46 runs for the sixth wicket, Kadam's share being 17. There after Damle got an able partner in Praveen Tambe. Duo put on 79 runs for the seventh wickets in 21 overs and helped their side to reach 154 in 47.1 overs. Damle and Tambe rescued DY Patil third time in a row. Damle made 58 off 102 halls with five fours while Tambe hit a six and three hits to the ropes in 73 balls. Facers Rohan Bane and Anand Rajan who did the early dent captured three wickets each while tell arm spinner Rajesh Pawar took two for 27. IndianOil openers Mithun Bearala and Paresh Patel gave them a fine start by putting on 65 runs before Patel was out for 31 off 33 balls with a six and four boundaries. Bearala made 76 with the help of a six and 15 hits to the fence in 73 balls. Ravikant Shukla and Rajesh Pawar of Oil were declared best batsman and Bowler of the Tournament, while DY Patil's Sarvesh Damle awarded player of the tournament. Sameer Bandekar was best umpire. All of them received Rs 2000 each while DY Patil's grounds man received Rs 1000. Test star Bal-winder Sandhu gave away the prices. DY Patil Group 154 in 47.1 overs {Sarvesh Damle 58, Praveen Tambe 45; Rohan Bane 3-28, Anand Rajan 3-22, Rajesh Pawar 2-27) lost to IndianOil 155 for 2 in 44.3 overs (Mithun Bearala 76, Paresh Patel 31, Ajinkya Rahane 23 n.o.) by 8 wts.
