Preparations for Indian Oil Femina Car Rally in full swing

Preparations are in full swing for the ‘6th IndianOil Femina Car Rally’ to be organised by Lions Club of Patna Femina. The rally will be flagged off from IndianOil Gasoline Petrol Pump on Boring Road here on March 21 and terminate at Sambodhi Retreat, around 10 km away from Bodh Gaya. The President of Lions Club of Patna Femina, Ms. Sumani Dewalla said around 50 cars would participate in the rally, covering a distance of around 150 kilometre between Patna and Bodh Gaya, The rally will have two categories. In the first category, participants will be all women team a woman driver and a woman navigator, while in the second category, the team will consist of a couple man and a woman. The organiser has also made provision for a night stay at Sambodhi Retreat. "The rally will be based on Time Speed Distance (TSD) format in which the maximum average speed will, be around 45 kilometers per hour. There will be several checkpoints on the route and secret check marshals will be there to monitor the whole rally. Provisions have been made for video recording at several points," she added. ‘The Femina Car Rally’, which was first held in 2004 with a distance of 125 kilometers between Patna and Bodh Gaya was the first female car rally in Eastern India and third in 'the country after Mumbai and Chennai. The present car rally with its slogan 'Race to protect the Girl Child' well signifies the objective of the rally. The surplus money collected from the rally will be used for the welfare of physically challenged and orphan girls," said the District Governor, Lions Club International District 322E, Dr. Nanda Garg. "The Governor of Bihar Devanand Konwar will give away the prizes to the winners of both the categories at a function to be held at Hotel Chanakya here on March 22. It is a matter of joy that March 22 will also be celebrated as 'Bihar Sthapana Diwas1 by the state government," said the coordinator of the rally Ms. Shikha Sen Sahay. Other members of Lions Club of Patna Femina and various representatives of the sponsors of the rally were also present on the occasion. Ms. Surabhi Banerjee of Patna Femina proposed the vote of thanks.
