SAIL, IndianOil win excellence award

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has bagged the Gold Trophy of "SCOPE Award for Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to the Public Sector Management — Institutional Category" for the year 2006-07. The Silver Trophies have been won by Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL), in Turnaround Category; National Buildings Construction Corpn Ltd (NBCC) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) in Medium PSE Category; and Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL) in Smaller PSE Category. In the Individual Excellence Award Category, Mr Sarthak Behuria, Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Limited has won the Gold Plaque and a cash amount of Rs 1,00,000 (one lakh rupees only). Dr S.M. Dewan, DG, SCOPE announced the results here. Earlier, the Jury of the SCOPE Excellence Awards with Justice P.N. Bhagwati as its Chairman met and decided the awards. Other members of the Jury are Dr Abid Hussain, Dr Arjun Sengupta, Mr Hiten Bhaya, and Mr Moosa Raza while International Management Institute (IMI) evaluated the entries. SCOPE awards have been conceptualized and instituted to recognize the contribution of public enterprises and to encourage outstanding persons for their hard work and leadership qualities. SCOPE Awards for the year 2005-06 were presented by Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh during ' the Conference of Chief Executives-of Public Sector Enterprises held in March 2007. Awards for the year 2006-07 will also. be presented on the occasion of Chief Executives Conference by either President, Vice President or Prime Minister of India.
