Bongaigaon Refinery celebrates IndianOil Day

Along with the rest of the IndianOil fraternity, Bongaigaon Refinery of IndianOil celebrated the IndianOil Day on 1 September, 2010 with zeal and enthusiasm. A host of activities were carried out to mark the occasion.

A ceremonial function was held with Mr. A Saran, Executive Director in the chair. The programme began with playing of the IndianOil Song followed by an welcome address by Mr. PD Choudhury, GM (HR). The employees of the refinery, by taking the IndianOil Pledge, collectively undertook to fulfill their obligation to the corporation through competence, integrity and loyalty. IndianOil Day messages from Mr. BM Bansal, Chairman and Mr. BN Bankapur, Director (Refineries), IOCL were read out. Addressing the gathering Chief Guest Mr. Saran greeted the employees on the occasion and highlighted the glorious journey of IndianOil. He stated that IndianOil was born out of the vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, to pursue a policy of self- sufficiency in the petroleum sector as a strategic requirement of a free nation. It was set up with the mandate of achieving self-sufficiency in refining and marketing operations for a nation set on the path of economic growth and prosperity. Today, IndianOil is meeting the energy needs of millions of people across the length and breadth of the country covering difficult terrain and harsh climatic conditions. Mr. Ramen Sarma, Vice-President, BGR Officers' Association and Mr. M Iswary, President, BGR Employees' Union also spoke on the occasion and called upon all to take a challenge to expand the market shares with quality product and services and to renew the commitment towards uninterrupted growth of IndianOil maintaining its giant status in the face of the globalised market scenario.

On this occasion, Suggestion Scheme Award Was presented, Speech Competitions were held among employees and CISF personnel, a Dealers/Customers Meet was organized with participation of representatives from various organizations and Free Health Check- up, Health Awareness and Diabetes Detection Camps were organized at nearby village. Moreover, Long Service Awards were presented to thirty employees of the refinery- 3 for completing 35 yrs of service and 27 for 30 yrs. In the evening, a cultural function was organized in which besides employees, the local talents from Natakachal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, DPS Dhaligaon, BRPL Vidyalaya and Sohini presented attractive cultural items including Chorus, Satriya dance, Bihu dance, Bagurumba dance, Bharat Natayam, Oddissi and orchestra and songs by BGR idols Mr. Harshajit Roy and Miss Ananya Das. Inaugurating the evening by lighting the ceremonial lamp, Chief Guest Mr. A Saran, ED congratulated the recipients of Long Service Awards and urged the employees and their families to feel proud for being part of the great IndianOil family.
