Hindi Week observed at Guwahati Refinery

To enhance the usage of Hindi as official language as part of Rajbhasha implementation, week long celebration of Hindi Week by Guwahati Refinery from September 14 to 22 was successfully concluded with a colourful manner on September 23 at Guwahati Refinery Training Centre, stated a press release.

On September 14, Hindi Divas was inaugurated with lighting of lamp by the chief guest Dr Ashyut Sarmah, head of Hindi Deptt, Gauhati University under the chairmanship of G Bhanumurthy; executive director. A chorus was presented by the school children of Refinery High School. On the occasion a Hindi special bulletin "Tarang" was released by the chief guest Dr Ashyut Sarmah.

During the week, various competitions for all categories viz. noting, drafting, translation, entry in register, hind typing on computer, slogan for employees, news reading for CISF, hindi poem reciting for housewives, workshop of official translation and correspondence and quiz for TOLIC member organisations, quiz for employees working inside the plant area; cross words for school children of Kendriya Vidyalaya IndianOil (IOC), Refinery High School, Noonmati High School and patriotic chorus song competition for employees, housewives, Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) and TOLIC member organisations was held.

At the concluding function on September 23, G Bhanumurthy, executive director and Ashok Kr Mishra, assistant director, Rajbhasha Department, Government of India, were present. Bhanumurthy addressed the gathering and appreciated to all the participants of various competitions organised during the week. The chief guest Ashok Kr Mishra spoke on the occasion and expressed his happiness about the popularity of Hindi day by day through media, music and literature. Its popularity may also increase through various competitions. Prizes were given away to winners of various competitions during the Hindi week, the release added.
