New Delhi   29-Apr-2015

Indian Oil Corporation Limited is fully geared to maintain supplies of petroleum products to the earthquake-hit Nepal.

A team of senior officers has been flown into Kathmandu. Two control rooms have been set up, at Delhi and Mumbai, to monitor the supplies position round-the-clock. Designated officers have been positioned to coordinate with Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) and assess the damage, and the information is being shared with control rooms and supply locations for extending all necessary help in restoration of normal supplies.

As per available information, sufficient stocks of petroleum products are available at Amalekhganj depot of NOC (Available days of cover: MS - 4 days, HSD - 10 days and SKO - 30 days).

Adequate stocks of all petroleum products are also available at IndianOil’s bulk storage depot at Raxaul and other locations (that normally cater to Nepal) for movement into the stricken country as necessary, and the stocks are being further augmented to meet any increase in demand in the coming days.

Sufficient stocks of ATF (aviation turbine fuel) are available at IndianOil’s aviation fuel stations (AFS) at Gorakhpur and Hindon to meet the enhanced requirements of the Indian Air Force for rescue and relief operations.

Apart from petroleum products, IndianOil, on behalf of the oil industry, has also provided relief material such as tents, blankets, etc, to the quake-affected.

Nepal gets all its petro petroleum products from India as part of a Government-to-Government understanding. IndianOil supplies over a million tonnes of fuels to Nepal annually that comprise ATF, HSD, MS and LPG, etc.
