Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, inaugurated 36 new CNG stations located in Delhi and NCR in the presence of Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Hon'ble MP from New Delhi, Ms. Sunita Narayan, DG, CSE, Mr. Ashutosh Jindal, IAS, Joint Secretary, Marketing MOP&NG, Mr. B. Ashok, Chairman, IndianOil, Mr. B.C. Tripathi, CMD, GAIL, Mr. B.S. Canth, Director Marketing, IndianOil and other senior dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, said that the Government is very concerned with the high pollution levels in Delhi and NCR and is taking various initiatives to bring the level down. He added that the Ministry has ensured the availability of CNG and aims to convert all the vehicles on the roads into CNG at the earliest. He added,' Ministry is planning to make a green corridor from Delhi to Agra, Delhi to Bareilly, and Delhi to Chandigarh and on other roads so that CNG fitted vehicles could refuel on these corridors'.

Addressing the gathering Ms. Lekhi said, `this is a good initiative taken by the Government for reduction of air pollution in and around Delhi and NCR. “

Ms. Narayan in her address said that the conversion of the public transport system to CNG would be beneficial for the citizens of Delhi and NCR. She said that it would help in reducing the pollution levels and enable people to breath fresh air.
