Solar Panel installed at the AFS

IndianOil commissioned country's first ‘green' Aviation Fuel Station (AFS) at Nasik. The company also plans to solarise 18 more AFS by the current FY 2017. Although airports have been using solar power for years to power lamps and lights around the airfield however ‘Green AFS ‘ is first of the kind initiative implemented by an oil company to harness solar power to run its operations.

The Nasik AFS has installed 8kWp solar power system with a bank of twenty 100 Ah batteries. The system is capable of running the entire load of pumps, motors, administrative block lighting, air-conditions, street lights etc.

Solarisation of corporation's facilities is one of the key sustainable initiatives IndianOil is pursuing aggressively. During the year 2015-16, 1.7 MW of solar PV has been installed across various operating locations and office buildings with a total energy generation capacity of 1.7 million units and annual carbon emission reduction of 1.3 TMTCO2e (thousand metric tonnes carbon-dioxide equivalent).

IndianOil's Retail Outlets are switching to solar powered systems replacing polluting DG sets resulting in reduction of green house as emission. As on date over 4200 fuel stations have been converted to operate on solar energy with a cumulative installed capacity of about 15 MW. Through our retail network we have sold more than 3, 60,000 solar lanterns in small towns, semi urban and rural areas. IndianOil has also formulated a comprehensive policy for implementation of LED lighting across all operating locations, office buildings, townships, installations and fuel stations by the year 2017.
